Give the Gift of Independence by remembering us in your Will

As a charity we receive no government funding and rely solely on donations and legacy gifts to continue training assistance dogs for people with disabilities. Leaving a legacy gift in your Will to Canine Partners will ensure that we can continue to create life-enhancing partnerships long into the future.

Your gift really will make a difference. Last year’s income from legacies enabled us to create 16 new partnerships but we still have many more people on our waiting list hoping to benefit from a Canine Partner. Informing us of your legacy allows us to plan our future work to help as many people with disabilities as possible lead an independent life.

1990 Society Club

In 2010 we celebrated our 20th Anniversary and the 1990 Society Club acknowledged those who have pledged to leave a gift to Canine Partners. This exclusive club offers members the opportunity to see our work first hand and meet others who have made a similar commitment, at our Annual Society Reception. Members will receive a Canine Partners tie and lapel badge, our Annual Review, exclusive invites to our fundraising events and updates on our future plans.

A gift in your Will of any size, large or small, will make such a difference to the lives of people with disabilities who are still waiting for the gift of independence. Let your legacy be a gift for life.

Helen and Canine Partner Yancey – is fully supported by a £20,000 legacy.

Helen Smith and canine partner Yancey's partnership was made possible through funding by a lady called Pauline, who left a gift in her Will to Canine Partners. “I was just 22 years old when I lost all of my limbs to meningococcal septicaemia which is the blood poisoning form of meningitis. One day I was absolutely fine the next I was facing life with a serious disability. It took several years for me to recover and learn to walk again but despite having state of the art prosthetics there were many things I still couldn’t do." Read more here..

Leaving a Legacy

There are 3 ways of leaving a legacy in your Will:

Residuary gift – A residuary gift is made from the remainder of the estate after all other Beneficiaries have received their

inheritance and all debts have been paid. Leaving this type of gift ensuring that your family and loved ones are remembered

first and what ever else is left over is donated to charity.

Pecuniary gift – A pecuniary gift is a gift of a specific sum of money that you wish to guarantee to the charity.

Specific gift – This is a gift a specific item such as property, jewellery or other items.
