You Are Here : Eastbourne Man Raises £1200 for Canine Partners
Simon, one of the partners at St Anne’s Veterinary Group in Eastbourne, ran in the gruelling heat with a time of 3.33.51 beating his personal best by eight seconds.
The 44-year-old started running in 2006 and has since run the London Marathon twice and the Beachy Head Marathon three times. “I am very aware what an important role these dogs play in the life of a person with disabilities and I am continually impressed with how well Canine Partners look after the dogs in their care.”
Money raised by taking part in challenges such as marathons will allow Canine Partners to continue to help people such as Claire Graham from Eastbourne who was paralysed as a result of a virus.
Claire says, “Ulli and I are a team. Since being with Ulli my physical health has greatly improved. I no longer tire as easily because of all the tasks Ulli now does for me, such as getting the post and picking up items I drop. When we are shopping he gets things from the shelves, but also passes items from my basket to the checkout. All these things he does have helped save strain on my back and arms.”
Canine Partners has charity places available for the London 10K run on 10 July and Great South Run on 30 October, so if you would like to take up the challenge please call Jill Green on 01730 716014.
