Stirling welcomes first Canine Partners puppies

They are the first puppies to join the Scottish East Coast puppy training satellite and will spend the next year learning basic obedience and core tasks that will be vital later on in advanced training and when they are partnered with a person with disabilities.

Annie, a nine week old labradoodle, and Alexandra an elevenweek old golden retriever poodle cross, have arrived from the Charity’s headquarters in West Sussex and are now in the care of volunteer puppy parents.

Canine Partners urgently need more volunteers to take puppies like Annie and Alexandra into their home.  Puppy parents look after the puppies until they are 12-14 months old.  All volunteers have the full support of Canine Partners puppy satellite trainers.  There is no financial cost to volunteers as the Charity covers all expenses.  Puppy parents need to commit to attending a weekly puppy class which is held on Tuesday mornings at Stirling Rugby club.

Canine Partners is keen to increase the number of trained dogs that could be partnered with a Scottish person with disabilities, and being a puppy parent is a vital role in making this happen.  Welcoming a Canine Partners puppy into your home is very rewarding and fun as current puppy parents Jacquie Dougan and Tony Gibb explain: “It is great to have a puppy in our home.  Knowing we have helped to shape a puppy into an assistance dog for someone that will have their life changed forever is an honour and a joy."
