Southampton Puppy Training Satellite

Weekly puppy classes are held at Hounsdown Community Hall, Southampton. Judith, the Puppy Satellite Trainer started as a dog foster homer for Canine Partners in 1996, then was a Puppy Parent and worked with the dogs in advanced training. She also worked with established Partnerships as an aftercare officer and started the very first Puppy Satellite in 2001. She has seen and helped many tiny puppies through to fully-trained Assistance Dogs, with her huge amount of experience.

News from the Puppy Parents
Busy busy
The Southampton satellite continues to keep Judith and her volunteers busy. Nine out of their 10 dogs are due to commence their advanced training this spring. The group are planning their “forest class” which finishes at one of the local pubs – purely to socialise the puppies there of course! All the hard work is worthwhile when the puppy parents hear of another Southampton dog being partnered, the latest of which are Jensen and Innis, with Logan chasing up behind! The group also pay visits to Longdown Dairy Farm who kindly allow them to take the dogs around the farm, as it is important to expose the pups to as many different animals as possible. Southampton fundraisers
Sharing the spotlight
Alison Bailey and local volunteers continue to fundraise throughout Hampshire. The puppies all have a chance to attend talks and events so that no puppy is doing it all and each gets a taste of being in the spotlight. These talks and fundraising events have so far raised £16,000, and special thanks must go to Exon Mobil who have kindly donated another £1,000 to Canine Partners.
Schools and Brownies
Wellstead School Hedge End (pictured right) have chosen Canine Partners as their charity and started their fundraising challenge with a “Dress as a Dog Day”.

Not to be outdone,
Sherborne House School in Chandlers Ford – regular supporters of Canine Partners continue to organise a variety of fun events. A sponsored walk is planned for the summer term.
Overton Brownies have raised £500 over 18 months, a wonderful achievement for such a small pack (pictured right). They held cake and coffee mornings, a sponsored walk and went carol singing in the local supermarket to raise the funds for the purchase of a Canine Partners puppy called Overton.
